before he was taken into custody.
Early in the morning a report had been received from a housemaid on Bobolink avenue of a prowler disturbing the place. She told police she had seen a man leave the premises and drive off in an auto. She obtained the license number of the machine and gave it to police. Officers said it was the license number of Olson's personal car.
The next report came from the Greer-Robbins auto agency on Franklin avenue. The agency said a Chrysler demonstrator car had been driven out of the garage there.
Another report of a prowler came from a Chiselhurst Drive address some miles distant and a radio patrol squad found Olson sitting in the automobile in front of the place.
Employees of the agency told police Olson apparently drove his own Cadillac into the garage back of the auto display room, and drove away in the demonstrator.
When questioned later in the police station, Officers Paul F. Rose and Joseph T. Healey said Olson told them:
"I had never driven a Chrysler before, and I wanted to try it out."
