Remarkable Escape.—The Montreal Gazette of the 1st, in a postscript, makes simple mention of a very remarkable escape of three hundred passengers from the consequences of a steamboat explosion. That number of persons had just landed from the steamer St. Pierre, when the boilers exploded, killing eight persons, all that remained on board of the boat! The destruction of the vessel was so complete that very few of the three hundred could have escaped if the explosion had occurred five minutes sooner.
