MR. JENKS,
I was pleased to notice in your last Gazette the nomination of EBENEZER MAYO Esq. for Register of Deeds ; and I fully agree with the writer in that paper, that the duties of the office are of very great public importance -All private and particular considerations should be thrown aside : and the only enquiry to be made, should be who is best qualified to discharge ALL the duties of County Register. If we act upon this principle, and suffer no private motive to interfere with the public good, I have no doubt that Mr. Mayo will be chosen.
