London, Oct. 28. On Sunday last, Pennock Richardson was committed to the Gatehouse, Westminster, by Sir John Fryer, Bart. Nathaniel Blackerby, and Richard Lilly, Esqrs. for defrauding divers persons of considerable sums of money by means of counterfeit certificates and letters of recommendation to charitably dispos'd persons, on pretence of great loss by fire, death of cattle, and inundations, in Norfolk, and other counties, where no such loss had ever been, the justices names thereto being counterfeited, as were also the names of the churchwardens and overseers of the poor, and the names of many persons of very great distinction appearing likewise counterfeited.
