Arrived here (Ja) April 8, Capt. Wm. Allen, in brigantine Gen. Wayne, from Boston. Had a green hand pressed, by name Wm. Waters, by the Jamaica sloop of war. Said Capt. Allen had him afterwards brought on shore, by an order from the Admiral, and procured liberty to send him (said Waters) to the hospital being in a hot fever, occasioned by ill usage on board the Jamaica, of which I am in part witness, from Waters' own mouth and the Captain's. I assisted in bedding and accompanying him to the hospital—He (Waters) was not able to walk the Capt. therefore hired a dray to carry him—He told me he had been flogged for not having breakfast ready soon enough for the officers and had received a severe stroke in the side, which he complained of very much.

From Capt. ALLEN.

The Doctor of the hospital's account was, that Waters had been bruised very much, but had no bones broke; and further said, that he was in a high fever occasioned as they thought, by the treatment he received.

(Signed) WILLIAM ALLEN.

The above Wm. Waters died the second day after removing to the hospital.

*Capt. T. Deland who procured and obligingly transmitted these particulars.
