ANDY IS A GOOD SPORT
A good many people have wondered, since the election, if Mr. A. A. Winer would contest Dr. Henry's seat in the council. The Star has felt sure that Mr. Winer would do no such thing, as it believed he was a better citizen and a better sport than to dispute the plainly and overwhelmingly pronounced wish of the people. That our opinion of "Andy" was correct is proven by the following document, which he submitted to the council Tuesday night:
To the City Council of the City of Ocala, Gentlemen:
Since there has been some question as to the eligibility of Dr. H. W. Henry to serve as councilman for the city of Ocala from the first ward, I feel that it is only appropriate that there should be some expression from me in regard thereto.
The people of Ocala have very clearly shown that they desire that the policies as to the administration of city affairs advocated by Dr. Henry, be carried into effect. While I am still convinced that time will show that my position was the one best adapted to the interests of the city, still I do not believe that any technicality should be allowed to interfere with the people of Ocala having what they want. For this reason I trust that Dr. Henry will be declared elected and be seated without any delay whatever, and I promise him my hearty support and co-operation in the advancement of our community.
Respectfully,
A. A. Winer.
