A HEALTHY REMITTANCE. - Yesterday checks were received in Virginia to the amount of $35,000, payable at the Bank of California, in greenbacks, to parties who were owners in the LaPlata, Pioneer and Silver Wave Ledges, located in Mountain Wells District, from a New York corporation, who, a short time since, purchased the larger part of these ledges. A mill upon them is now being built, which will cost, when finished, upwards of $100,000. Over 300 tons of rock have been taken out of these claims for crushing in this mill. From a party who has seen this ore, we are assured that it will work well by mill process. The yield will be principally in silver, as but little gold is shown in the assays of the rock now exposed from these ledges. In a short time a remittance of another $35,000 is expected by those interested in these mines; for some of the unassessable stock in this, a fair price has been offered by these same New York parties. The entire contract for the sale of these mines, we believe, amounts to $220,000. Mr. Underwood, the general Superintendent of the works, has arrived in Virginia to take charge of its affairs. The sale of some of our mines to moneyed men shows that the mines in our rich mineral State are receiving that attention which their merits warrant; and when once we fairly get the eastern capitalist interested in them, the future wealth and prosperity of the State of Nevada cannot be estimated within reasonable figures.
