CONCORD, Feb. 3, 1858.
The Supreme Judicial Court commenced a session in this city yesterday, Judge Fowler presiding. At 11 o'clock the Sheriff called on all present to keep silence during prayer.
Prayer was offered by Rev. Mr. Beedle, pastor of the Methodist church: the Grand and Petit Jury were empanelled, and Judge Fowler delivered an able charge to the Grand Jury. This done, the Grand Jury, together with the County Solicitor, retired to their rooms, where they will be employed hearing evidence against the offenders of the laws;—and the court, after arranging a case for trial, adjourned until afternoon. We looked in upon the court after dinner, and the case on trial was Susan Ela vs. Ebenezer L. Tandy.
George W. Ela, of Allenstown, was on the witness stand. S. Dana, Esq., was the counsel for Susan Ela, and Arthur Fletcher, Esq., for E. L. Tandy. Not much public interest seemed to be elicited, as there were but very few persons present in court. Judging by the appearance around the Grand Jury room door, we are of opinion that there is not a great amount of business to be presented before them.
