Newspapers in Schools.—An esteemed friend, who conducts a Seminary in this town, informs us that he has adopted the plan of introducing the reading of newspapers along his larger school section; and with a beneficial effect. It is pleasing, he observes, to see how fast and with what interest they acquire information in this way. Care is taken to exclude party and sectarian principles; and no paper introduced but such as is provided by the parents. We should like to hear of this plan being more generally adopted. Whilst children are learning to read, they can also be learning something about the world: so that when they enter upon it, they will not be altogether so ignorant of what is going on, as when a contrary course is pursued.
