Full Text

Julian Defeated! If the Whigs in Indiana had no other cause for rejoicing, the defeat of Julian, the Abolition Loco-foco coalition candidate for Congress, would be sufficient. Samuel W. Parker, Esq., who was the Whig nominee, took broad and decided ground in favor of the compromise measures, endorsing in all things Mr. Fillmore's administration. Julian, on the other hand, reviled the Whigs and the administration with all that coarse vulgarity generally resorted to by those who, from the fact of being in the wrong, have no argument at command, and made the fugitive slave law a prominent issue, against which he railed with all the bitterness of a fanatic.
