Seattle will be the site for the second annual post-war Nichiren Buddhist convention to be held on July 15, 16 and 17. The Seattle Rissho YBA will be the host.
Co-chairmen for the affair are Tae Tsubota and Jim Akutsu. They will be assisted by the following: Naoko Anzai and Michi Akagi, registration; Maida Ikeda and Kachi Akagi, hospitality; Chuck Ikeda, tour and transportation; Tae Tsubota, finance; Keiko Kitayama and Smith Hayami, food; Mitsi Hara, religion; Noboru and Hats Kawada, decoration committee; Kit Kitayama, assembly and meeting; Hank Okuda and Michi Akagi, publicity and photography; Hideo Kondo and Tae Tsubota, program and convention publication; Jim Akutsu, social activity; Toshi Akagi, convention secretary; and advisory board members, the Rev. and Mrs. B. Oda, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Iwata, Mr. and Mrs. Kiyoshi Korechiyo and Mr. R. Tamura.
Delegates from Portland, Sacramento, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Spokane and other districts are expected to attend. The future program for the Nichiren YBA and how to meet the needs for a greater Nichiren brotherhood in the U. S. will be discussed.
A gala program has been planned for the three-day affair. Registration will begin at 5 p.m. on Friday, July 15, in the Nichiren Buddhist Church. On schedule for the convention are a tour of the city, mixers, banquets and a dinner-dance affair at the Olympic Bowl.
All interested non-members are cordially invited to attend this convention.
