Full Text

They write from Vienna, that the News of the repeated Success of the Imperialists against the Turks, has so enraged the Populace against Count Seckendorff, that immediately after the Arrival of Count de Preising with the Account of the last Action between the Imperial Army and the Infidels, they assembled in great Numbers about the Field-Marshal's House, gave him very opprobrious Language, and broke all the Windows; upon which the Court sent a strong Guard to protect the Count from the Fury of the Populace, who were oblig'd to fire amongst them before they would disperse: But as it was apprehended that the People might renew their Insults the next Day, the Emperor sent the Count away in the Night to the Castle of Graz in Styria; where, no doubt, he will be kept safe enough. He ought to die with Shame, to see that an Army which he had almost ruin'd, can still beat a much greater Number of Turks than ever appear'd against him. The Imperialists have gloriously regained their Honour; but when Seckendorff will retrieve his, is a Question too hard for our Infidel Gentry there to resolve.
