The storm has wrecked proposals for visits to Trinidad, under the Eisenhower cultural exchange program, by the San Francisco Ballet for the first week in September and by Woody Herman's jazz band in October.
Both have been cancelled after protest by the local Musicians Union, six months old and 100 members strong.
The Little Carib, star performers at the West Indies Arts Festival, at which Princess Margaret was present in May, were invited to perform at Stratford, Ont., in the July Festival. To repay the $9,000 advanced for expenses by the Trinidad Government the company arranged a short tour to follow the Festival appearances which, incidentally, were a success.
The A.F.M. said "no", and threatened a boycott and reprisals against any hall or theatre accepting the act. The tour was cancelled.
