Full Text

The Outlook.

There has been no season since the settlement of Dakota when the agricultural prospects were more promising than now. From every quarter the intelligence is very favorable. The acreage under cultivation is largely increased over former years, and wheat has already passed beyond the point where any harm can come to it from insects which are natives here "and to the manner born." The foreboding of disaster, born of tribulations already long suffered, is the only cloud which lowers gloomily over the farmers' hearth. Insurance against the myriads who may fly hither from neighboring sections before the grain is harvested is a boon that would clear away all gloom and admit the precious sunlight of contentment to thousands of industrious homes scattered over these wonderfully fertile prairies. But in the nature of things, this cannot be assured. The better way will be, however, not to cross the stream before it is reached. Borrow no trouble. Work, hope and pray. Enjoy, at least, the glorious prospect the bright anticipations of abundance which the present promises? and then in the event that Dakota escapes the destructive pest you will have doubly profited.
