Full Text
The Germantown Telegraph says: "We would advise our readers not to eat any Delaware catfish this summer, as they are affected with a disease from which large numbers have died. People in the habit of taking them for market, say that they are unusually scarce in the river, while along the shore large numbers of dead fish are seen. Although this is one of the hardiest species, so far as surviving for a length of time out of its native element, it seems to be more liable to become diseased than any other, and many are thus destroyed nearly every spring."
