The Ice-Crop in Massachusetts.

[Boston Traveller, December 31.]--The prospects for a good crop of ice in this State are favorable. The Boston Ice Company, which takes the lead, reports about ten inches on its large pond in Chelmsford. The capacity of the pond is between 60,000 and 70,000 tons. The smaller ponds of the same company in Woburn, Wakefield, &c., are in good condition. Fresh Pond and Spy Pond closed Saturday night, and now have some three or four inches. Should the cold weather continue during the week and no snow or rain intervene, the Boston Ice Company will commence cutting on Monday next. Mr. Thomas Hittinger has eight or ten inches on his pond at Farge Village, and the Russells ponds are in the same state of forwardness. The ponds of the lower ice companies are nearly ready for cutting, and nothing interferes in the shape of snow or rain the quantity will be abundant and the quality excellent.
