Full Text

THE NEGRO PROBLEM.
There is a publication of recent issue entitled "The Negro Problem--Abraham Lincoln's Solution--Reform It Altogether." There have been many suggestions connected with the negro problem which have emanated from the fancies of Northern men having little conception of the negro. These treatises on the negro may yield pecuniary profits to their authors and publishers, but the problem which is the most practical and desirable may be left to its own settlement--"Let the negro alone." From the days of Lincoln to the present time the negro has been the unfortunate victim of men who, as so-called friends, have used him for their own selfish purposes, politically and otherwise. The negro who is keeping within the sphere of his station is solving the problem for himself. "Let him alone."
