Lucky edged the rebels 65-60 in a thriller winning a shot at Tennessee in the finals.
OPENING DAY THRILLERS
The tourney produced opening day thrillers. The Aggies from Oklahoma nipped Fisk Five 54-53 and Villa Madonna clipped Nebraska State from Peru, Neb. 73-72 to stay alive for the second round.
In the first day's loser's bracket on Friday, Berea handed Fisk Bulldogs their second defeat 74-59 while Nebraska embarrassed Anderson again 80-68. Nebraska went on to dump Berea 79-74 for consolation honors. Meanwhile, Villa Madonna and Pan Handle staged a double overtime for third place. The rebels outlasted the Aggies who had managed to knot the score 34-34 at halftime, 57-57 at the end of the regular game, 61-61 when the first overtime ended but had to settle for the tourney's fourth spot.
Coach McClendon takes his unbeaten tigers to Quincy, Illinois next week Dec. 27, 28, 30 in another eight-team tourney during the holidays.
