STRIKERS' RIOT.

One Policeman and One of the Mob Stop Bullets.

Paterson, N. J., June 18.-A meeting of the striking dyers' helpers today was followed by a riot in which a policeman and one of the rioters were shot. The trouble was of short duration. The mob was soon dispersed and quiet was restored.

May Call Out Militia.

There were two more outbreaks later in the day. Several rioters are reported to have been wounded. The mob attacked the Augusta silk mill and the police had to charge the crowd repeatedly before it could be dispersed. Another outbreak occurred in the Empire mill, where a number of shots were fired. The situation has become grave. It is believed the militia will be called out before night.
