PERNAMBUCO, AUGUST 30.

Our government, after going to an immense expence with the expeditions to the River La Plata, will have to withdraw from it at the remonstrance of the powers of Europe. A few vessels have been taken, but nothing to what we expected. Our convoy has sailed for Portugal, and being under constant apprehensions, seldom a vessel sails without one.

Great losses must inevitably be sustained by those who have returned hither lately, as their cargoes cannot be disposed of even at a very considerable sacrifice, and on the returns no freight can be gained at the present high prices. Besides, we have an excellent crop of Mandioca and corn this year, which does away in a great measure the necessity of looking for supplies of provisions elsewhere. Under these circumstances, the importation of 1000 barrels of Flour, would always overstock our market, provided it was bare of this article on its arrival. Balt. Pat.
