Seattle, Nov. 27.

The land office inquiry into the validity of the Cunningham coal land claims, valued at $50,000,000, was adjourned today until next Thursday morning at 10 o'clock in Spokane.

Squire C. Chessum, who was foreman of work on the Cunningham claim for three years, testified today that the long tunnel on the Tenino claim, which government witnesses had said was apparently built for the purpose of mining coal from several claims, was made for the sole purpose of investigating the coal vein, which was thick at this point.
