Sam Shaver of Ashland was brought before Justice Gibb this morning, charged with assaulting Sam O'Connell of that place on the 30th ult. After hearing the complaint the defendant pleaded guilty, and was given the minimum fine of $10, with costs, which was promptly paid. After the proceedings were through, the gentlemen being in a genial frame of mind, talked the matter over, and both came to the conclusion that it was better, as neighbors, to be friends than enemies, and will in future abide by such conclusion.
