Flandreau to Utilize Sioux Dam for Power

Flandreau, Sept. 9—After having been in litigation for a couple of years the city of Flandreau has acquired the legal right to dam the Big Sioux river here and the water rights attached. Mayor Peart announces that the city has plans for utilizing the power at the dam. It is planned to put in a modern water wheel, which will enable the city to generate the power for its own pumping. In addition the dam protects the city's water supply. According to engineers who have investigated the matter, the present dam, with an improved water wheel will develop considerable power.
