Met an Old Friend.

Dear Editor:-

While making a trip through this part of the country I was surprised to find one of my old friends. Rev. W. O. Black of Baltimore, who was a locomotive engineer on the B. & O. R. R. for several years and did revival work all through Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Delaware and New Jersey and at last gave up his position and devoted his entire time to the work of the Lord and the people whom he is now serving ought to feel proud that they have a preacher like him, for if he were back in the Baltimore conference where he left he would have a good charge and all his old friends would welcome him for he was one of the greatest mission workers in the city. I asked him why he had settled in this part and he said: It is not my will but the will of the Lord that sent me and I am willing to go wherever He wants me to go and do what He wants me to do for I am the Lord's and will spend my life in his work.

I must say that he is a brave Christian worker and one that is devoted to his work or he would never have given up the city work and taken up circuit work in the wilds. He is a very plain spoken man and one that has no use for profession without possession. I was his family physician for several years and never was able to find any fault with him or his happy little wife; but I will say God bless him in his work and may the people receive him royally for we would be glad to have him back with us again and I know that all his old friends will be glad to hear from him when I get home.

DR. M. M. WHITE.
Baltimore, Md.

In the 'wilds.' indeed! No doubt civilization is about as far advanced in West Virginia as it is in Baltimore.
