Last Tuesday Evening the Rev Mr. OCCUM, an Indian educated at the Rev. Mr. WHEELock's School, preach'd a Lecture in the North Meeting-House in this Town, to good Acceptance before a numerous Assembly: and the next Evening a Charity Sermon was preach'd by the same mentioned Gentleman, for the Benefit of the School; and to assist several Missionaries now ready to go among the Indians of the six Nations, who appear well disposed to be instructed in Christianity--After which about Thirty Pounds Sterling, was collected. to help forward that good Design. -As there has never been a more hopeful Prospect of spreading the Knowledge of the Gospel among those Savages, and even to the more remote Tribes, and bringing them at the same Time to a civilized Life, it is to be wished such an Example might be followed in many other Towns.
