An Unfounded Rumor.

A rumor was circulated last evening that one of the children in attendance upon the city schools had come down with smallpox. President Muller, of the board of education, assures the New Mexican that careful investigation proves that this story is unfounded. It doubtless grew out of the fact that a case of measles has been discovered in the First ward and that the children of the family in which this case exists have been sent home from school. In view of the fact that smallpox prevails to some extent in the southern part of the territory, Major Muller says that, as a precautionary measure, the board of education has decided to see that the school children of the city are vaccinated without delay.
