NEW YORK, April 17.

Wednesday Night arrived here the Snow Lydia and Jane, Brion, from Dublin, but last from Cadiz, which she left the 4th of March, by whom we hear, That the Measures of the Court of Spain, seem to indicate an approaching Rupture, & new Minister, a Neapolitan, being appointed in the Room of Mr. Wall, who had given very strict Orders to search all English and Dutch Ships that came in there, and all Passengers that came on Shore. There were at Cadiz, one English and four Dutch Men of War, and many Merchantmen of both Nations, who not submitting to be search'd were prohibited to land or take in any Goods; but this Snow having her Cargo on board, proceeded on her Voyage. She left the Port in Company with the Eolus Frigate, Capt. Elliot, Convoy to a Fleet bound to London: As he left Cadiz, he saw two French Row Galleys carrying in a Prize Schooner, supposed from North America, and another Prize Snow was sent in there by a French Brig Privateer. The Purser of the Eolus was imprisoned for having 36 Dollars found upon him, but that the new Minister was very disagreeable to the People, who threatened him.

The last News from England was, That the Grand Expedition Fleet sail'd some Weeks before they left Cadiz, supposed for Martinico, under the Command of three Admirals, of which Hawke was chief.
