J. H. Dougherty, mayor.
Lewis Wood, attorney.
T. J. Darling, railway clerk.
Wm. Taylor, city marshal.
A. L. Curtis, city attorney.
This testimonial is enough, but the Tribune will add that besides this warm endorsement of Mr. Lewy's worth and standing in Temple, that his official career was such as indicated the rapid rise he has enjoyed from the beginning. He first served as city attorney and from this position was unanimously appointed mayor by the council upon the death of Mayor Calloway. Standing for the position again at the general election he was elected and during his administration was built the market and opera house, at the time, the handsomest building in Central Texas; he reduced city taxes; put in shape the sinking fund and interest accounts of the city which had heretofore been neglected, and in short, brought order out of chaos and placed on a sound basis the entire affairs of this city.
The people of Temple have watched the rise of Mr. Lewy with much interest, and with the Tribune will be pleased to see him succeed in the present contest, believing as they do that his integrity, ability and sound principles will be worth much to San Antonio in the executive chair.-Adv. 2-7 1t.
