WINCHESTER, NOV 18

A gentleman from Moorefield, Hardy county, passed through this town on Friday last, on his way to Washington city, in order to procure a patent right for a machine which he has lately invented for the purpose of knitting stockings. The invention of this machine has employed a considerable portion of the inventor's studies for some years back, and he feels a confidential hope that he has accomplished what he had in view. The great advantages of this machine are that on it can be knit twelve pair of stockings in one day, and its cheapness, which will render an acquisition for farmers of the most humble fortune.
