GLASGOW, (Scotland) June 1.

At the meeting of the Highland Society, the Earl of Breadalbane submitted to their consideration some information of importance which he had received from Mr. Mackenzie of Applecross.

The purport of it was, that, from the combination of various unfortunate circumstances, a resolution had been entered into by five hundred Highlanders, on the estates of Mr. Macdonald of Glengary, to emigrate from Scotland to Canada:

That an eligible situation had been fixed upon, and a considerable tract of country purchased for their future residence & accommodation: that they had persuaded a number of artificers to abandon their homes, and participate their fortunes: That they were supplied with implements of husbandry, and that they had seduced persons of skill in agriculture and rural affairs: That certain gentlemen of character in the commercial world, had countenanced their schemes: That a considerable time had elapsed since they had formed themselves into a society for that purpose; and that each of them had, from the commencement of the plan, subscribed sums of money at different times:

That they purchased several ships at Port Glasgow (or at some of the western sea ports) in order to carry their design into effect: That the day had been appointed for their departure:

That they had chosen a chief, one Capt. Macdonald, whose will was to be law: And that two doctors were to accompany them, the one to prescribe for the body, the other to administer kind offices for the soul.
