COLON, Panama.-(ANP)-Because of the local Municipal Registrar's refusal to accept for registration the names selected by Mr. and Mrs. James M. Morgan, for their twin sons born to them a few days ago, a writ of mandamus will probably be filed in the courts within a few days, it is understood.
On October 16, two boys were born to Mr. and Mrs. Morgan, Columbian Negroes at the Samaritan Hospital. The twins were the pride of both parents. Frequent bedside conjectures followed as to the proudest names that should be bestowed on the healthy youngsters.
After much time and thought, it was decided to call them Demostenes Arosemena and Dario Vallarino after the President and the Chief Justice of the Republic, respectively. Surely, no greater names could be selected the proud parents agreed.
And so the birth certificates were filled for the Morgan twins by Dr. Wendell S. Dove, white, and duly registered at the mayor's office. At least they were delivered, but were indignantly returned to Dove's office. Those names could not be inscribed on the birth register, the Registrar furiously stormed, even though the parents were Colombians.
So American doctors smiled thinking of the many George Washingtons, Abraham Lincolns, Thomas Edisons, and Joe Louises and even Haile Selassies who have grown up among the colored and white communities of the United States and concurring with Shakespeare queried, "What's in a name?"
