IOWA TRAIN ROBBERS.-ST. LOUIS,
Mo, March 18.--The Democrat has
a special from Sedalia, Mo., which says
reports have reached there that the
notorious Younger brothers, who are
supposed to have been engaged in the
Iowa railroad-train
robbery some
months ago, were attacked yesterday
at Monaga Springs, St. Clair County,
this State, by a party of detectives,
and a desperate conflict ensued. in
which one of the Younger brothers and
two detectives were killed.
Thomas Allen, President of the Iron
Mountain Railroad, has received a
dispatch corroborating the Democrat's
special regarding the fight between the
detectives and Younger brothers at
Wanagan Springs. The dispatches do
not state what detectives were engaged
in the affair, but it is supposed that
they were in the employ of Pinkerton,
of Chicago.
