DUBLIN (AP)—With the Irish Free State on a stable basis of self-government, William T. Cosgrave, president of its executive council, is visiting the United States with a party of Free State officials to thank Americans for their aid through years of struggle.
The group will visit Chicago, Washington, New York, Philadelphia and Boston, returning to Ireland Feb. 4 after a three weeks tour.
President Cosgrave is 47. Eleven years ago he was under sentence of death for participation in the "Bloody Easter" rebellion against England, but he was granted amnesty and has worked his way to the leadership of the new government.
With him on the American trip are Desmond Fitzgerald, minister of defense; Joseph Walsh, secretary of internal affairs, and Diarmuid Hogarty, secretary of executive council of the Free State.
