COMMUNICATED.
Mr. Editor: It is not often that I write or talk about National Politics; but I cannot refrain from expressing to you the pleasure I find in witnessing the unanimity of our town with regard to your distinguished favorite, Mr. Clay. I am led to this remark from a conversation I had, the other evening, with an old friend of mine, who knows, perhaps, as well as any other man amongst us, the feelings and sentiments of our citizens. We are emphatically--and I rejoice to say it--all for Clay. The Jackson men amongst us seem disposed to do justice to his talents and his honor. We have, to be sure, no vote but our influence is felt; our wishes command respect, and we have a right to express our honest opinions. I want it to be known abroad, to use your own language, that in the three cities of this District, Jacksonism and Duff Greenism are at their lowest ebb; and that Henry Clay is, with us, truly the man of the people.
AN OLD CITIZEN.
