LATEST FROM HAVANA.
Mr. Newell, who arrived here on Wednesday night in thirty hours from New York, left Havana the 12th inst. He informs that a 64 and a 74 and a few transports full of families, and sixty Dominican Friars had just arrived from Cadiz, and that no communication was allowed to be held with them—Ex. Coffee House Books.
[The Priests are no less than sixty Dominican Friars! The demon of the Inquisition run away from the standard of toleration. No wonder the government of Havana have forbidden an intercourse with the ships, as they will be cautious how they increase the number of such propagators of freedom!]
One conclusion is obvious—that whether this Pandora box is sent by England or France, the good people of Havana mean to be guarded against the pernicious effects of foreign influence—though smuggled in among them under the garb of religion or the RIGHTS OF HOSPITALITY.]—BOSTON PATRIOT.
