Full Text

BOSTON, May 27. OF PEACE. Some of the passengers in Capt. Scott, are of opinion, that a peace will be concluded this year. On what data they found that opinion, we are not able to state. The majority in the English Parliament, in favor of the war, is not diminished and the monied and landed interests appear firm in its support. The most active preparations for equipping a formidable navy, were prosecuting; and stocks had not fallen any considerably for some months. On the other hand, though Peace on honorable terms, appears to be the wish of the French Convention, they are nevertheless recruiting their numerous armies, equipping navies, and sending squadrons on remote expeditions. The Germanic Powers, also, are augmenting their forces. Mr. Fox in the British House of Commons, asserts, that Prussia had actually made Peace with France. yet there is no official information on the subject. The death of the Prussian negotiator in Switzerland, may have retarded such an event.
