Socialized Medicine

At a meeting of the Board of Directors of the Mt. Top Chamber of Commerce last Friday, the organization went on record as being opposed to socialized medicine as outlined in Senate Bill No. 1679. The secretary, Charles L. Briner, was instructed to write to Congressman J. Glenn Beall, and U. S. Senators Millard E. Tydings and Herbert O'Conor, asking them to vote against the bill when it is presented.

The Board agreed to continue plans for speed boat races on Deep Creek Lake, sometime in September. Phillips Thayer is chairman of the committee on arrangements.

Mayor Joseph Hinebaugh and Jack Treacy represented the Chamber at a district meeting in Cumberland on Wednesday evening. The board decided to meet one day each month for a luncheon and discussion, with special meetings to be called by the president, Emeric Dusic.
