DOUGLAS THANKS SUPPORTERS

I wish to extend to my many active supporters in the recent primaries my sincerest thanks for their efforts which were responsible for my nomination. To those who cast their ballots for me, I wish to extend my appreciation.

To all I wish to take this opportunity to state that the Democratic party has in the past stood out against the Boulder Canyon dam and the Swing-Johnson bill and that I, as a candidate on that party ticket, will continue to stand against them.

Should I be fortunate enough to be elected to represent Arizona - which always has been and always will be my STATE - in Congress, I shall exert every effort and every influence to the end that Arizona's interests in the Colorado be adequately protected; to the end that the Colorado river be developed from the head down and not from the foot up and to the end that there be preserved for the United States, as against Mexico, the waters of that river.

The settlement of the Colorado river question is THE issue of this campaign.

The two party system is essential to good government in this country. As a Democrat I earnestly subscribe to the principle of the Democratic party and shall whole heartedly support the ticket of that party.

L. W. DOUGLAS.
