A gentleman of veracity from Bridgeport, in this state informs, that on the bank of the lake in that town, discovery has lately been made of a spring, the water of which, on being analyzed, produces large quantities of the bitter purging salts, commonly denominated Epsom salts. A pail full of the water, which our correspondent proved, produce half a pound of salts, in so pure a state, that half an ounce was a sufficient cathartic for an adult. The water in its natural state, does flow freely, but continually oozes from the bank. The inhabitants of Bridgeport have prepared several pounds of this valuable commodity, and no doubt its utility will soon be experienced extensively.
