Woodbury Abbey, cadastral engineer of the general land office, and a crew of men will resume the survey of the boundaries of Mount McKinley National Park this summer. The exact date of the commencement of the work is still shrouded in uncertainty, but it is expected that the party will take the field early in June.
The work will probably be commenced at a point on the 149th Meridian, near Riley Creek, where the work for the season was halted last fall, and continued southward to Corner No. 5, near Windy Creek. From this point the line will be run in a southwesterly direction for a distance of approximately 36 miles to the west fork of the Chulitna river. The party will then probably proceed up the west fork of the Chulitna and across West Fork and Muldrow Glacier, through the canyon of the McKinley river, to the old camping ground of the party near the camp of the Mt. McKinley Gold Placers, and on to the point, on the west bank of the McKinley, where the northwest boundary line was halted last fall. Crossing the McKinley river at that point, the line will be continued until completed.
The department also has authorized the survey of the Chulitna coal fields, and a survey party to do this work, will take the field during the early summer.
