By the Hartford Post there are Accounts, that the Indians who have been troublesome on the Frontiers of Pennsylvania, are disposed to be at Peace. The following Letter contains the Substance of these Accounts:

Extract of a Letter from Philadelphia.

An Express is just arrived from Col. Bouquet, Commander in Chief of our Army on the Ohio, which brings we are told the Articles of Peace agreed upon between Colonel Bradstreet and the Shawanese and Delaware Indians, who had not come in when Sir William Johnson returned. The Particulars will immediately be sent to General Gage, at New-York. Nevertheless we hear Col. Bouquet intends to proceed with the Army till the Preliminary Articles of Agreement are fully executed; and our Provincial Forces are now on the Way to join him, and were met by the Express. The Particulars that I can recollect are as follows: That after Col. Bradstreet with the Forces under his Command had left Niagara they were met by 25 Indians, who presenting a Belt, and desiring to know where he was going and his Design, were answered. That the Army was going into the Countries of the Indians who had murdered the English and violated the Peace, in order to scourge them for their Cruelty and Violence. After their Dismiss ion, other Messengers were sent with a Belt, desiring that the Army might halt till Terms of Agreement might be concluded. This was refused, and the Belt returned. Two other Belts were then presented by the Indian Chiefs, and the following Articles agreed to. Viz. That the English should possess all the Forts that had ever been built by the English or French and as much Land round Each, as a Cannon Ball would fly over, with a free Communication between all the said Forts: that the Indians were to bring in all the English Prisoners, Black and White, within 25 Days to St. DuKey, where they were to meet the Army and conclude the Peace, and that 10 Hostages should be left as a Security for their due Performance.
