New Additions Give Strength. Invitations Received to Join Organized Baseball
With the return of Lefty Touchette, Gappy Bardier, Bill Reddy, Sco Dupre, Leo Marion, Izzy Weiss, and the probable addition of "Lefty" Kash, the southpaw slab artist who handled the locals so well in Grosvenordale game, the Silk Sox club shapes up one of the greatest Putnam has ever had on the diamond. Already branded as the clouting southpaw, because of several left-handed batters the locals reputation has extended throughout New England. During the past two weeks the Sox management has not only received invitations to join the reorganized Blackstone Valley Circuit but has also been asked into the folds of the newly formed Connecticut League. It is not improbable that the Putnam club will team up with Westerly, New London, Norwich, Willimantic, and Hartford in the last mentioned circuit. The fans are awakening to the existence of the crack outfit and are turning out big for the Sunday tilts on Renick's Field.
