COOLIDGE AND BRYAN
President Coolidge praises scientists who have devoted "endless ages" to create in men the courage that will accept "truth simply because it is truth."
Contrast that with Mr. Bryan's contention that "a man has a right to believe as he pleases!"
No scientific, truth-seeking, philosophic or well balanced mind claims or exercises the right to believe as it pleases. Such a mind believes as its knowledge, experience and reasoning directs it. It does not choose its destination in advance. It follows truth wherever it may lead and accepts it "simply because it is truth."
No wonder the American people seem to have a preference for Coolidge over Bryan.
