The following Resolution, which has been offered in the house of delegates by Mr. J. H. Blake, and referred to a committee of the whole, was on Saturday last, referred to a select committee. It was contended by the advocates of this measure, that such legislative expressions of the publick will, were only justifiable on extraordinary and urgent occasions, and that there existed no crisis at present which called for a measure, foreign to the sphere of ordinary legislation, which might produce in its progress, unnecessary altercation and debate.

"Resolved, That the General Assembly of Virginia have an entire confidence, in no wise diminished, but increased, in the patriotism of the views and wisdom of the conduct of the President of the United States; and that the present administration merits and ought to receive the most cordial support of this Assembly."
