Story Details
Five Dutch gentlemen skating from Rotterdam to Amsterdam fall through ice; two drown immediately. Father, an expert swimmer, supports himself and son Henry Hock but realizes son's hold will doom both. Son kisses father, bids good night, releases hold, and drowns to save him. Father survives.
