FOR CIANO EXECUTION
BERN.
Feb. 16.
(UP)—Benito Mussolini has assumed full responsibility for the death of his late son-in-law, Count Galeazzo Ciano, according to reports from the Italian frontier.
In an interview with a Japanese correspondent of the Tokyo Mainichi Shimbun recently, Mussolini was asked how he could "sacrifice the life of his son-in-law."
His reply was, "Had Ciano's treason been directed only against me and Fascism, I would have been more lenient. But, since it was directed against the entire Italian people and our sacred alliance with Germany and Japan, I was forced by the inexorable."
