They write from Lisbon, That Mr. Kettle Hays, the British Vice-Consul has been murdered by his Servant Man, upon a very slight Provocation: He only desired the Fellow to get him some Water, which he refus'd, and Mr. Hays discharged him, and ordered him immediately out of the House: upon which, he ran at him directly, and with a large Knife gave him several Stabs, of which he instantly died. The Murderer is fled, and 'tis supposed has taken Sanctuary in some Church. Mr. William Gibbs, who had resided at Lisbon many Years, and carried on a very extensive Trade, is appointed Vice-Consul in his Room.
