CAN POINT OUT THE MAN.

Caleb Powers has been in jail for over seven years. In Monday's papers he is reported as saying:

"Handicapped as I have been by being in jail, I have at last discovered and am able to point out the man who killed Senator Goebel, and it is not Jim Howard either—the person claimed by the prosecution. I believe in Howard's entire innocence. While I have been wrongfully deprived of my liberty, and endurance at many times almost to the breaking point I would be doing myself a great injustice and the State a great wrong if I did not want to again wage the battle in its courts for its honor and my own. This I will do if I live to see another trial, whether Willson is elected or defeated."

If Mr. Powers knows who killed Mr. Goebel and by revealing the name he could establish his own innocence he should reveal the name, give the facts. If Mr. Powers is innocent, he after a fair and impartial trial, should be acquitted.
