Full Text

If the Rev. Mr. Avery has fled from Bristol, or is concealed in that place, as is asserted, why does not the Governor issue his Proclamation offering a reward for his apprehension? Such we believe has been the practice throughout the Union, when a man either known or suspected to be guilty of a high crime, evades the officers of justice. No crime of deeper atrocity than the murder at Tiverton, has ever been committed in this country. Who the murderer is, no one perhaps can say with certainty--but it is due to public justice, and the outraged feelings of the community, that no efforts shall be wanting to bring the dark transaction to the light of day.
