FRESH FABLE -We have not had a pleasant laugh, for a long time, than we got, yesterday, out of the nonsense of that cracked brain John Jones, of the Madisonian, In reply to an article in the Globe -which spanks Mr. Tyler nicely. John whines, and wheedles, and scolds, and sputters like a silly old woman, half shot with whiskey-(Captain John's favorite liquor)and makes a more decided fool of himself, than we ever knew him to do before-and is saying a great deal.He tells of "the people" dear souls and he whines at Blair thus-" Oh, Mr. Globe! We catch yourself""Mr. Blair. You cannot escape the rope of fact." &c. &c. But the sweetest article, the richest by far: is the one about the late row de-dow called a 'Tyler meeting' In New York,John capers about, and screams with very delight at having got a meeting, at last. To give you a nibble at the dish, we select the opening words. Here they are:
"Let the patriot's heart rejoice ! The Republican spirit of the land has arisen from its slumbers. The issue which has been made between the People and the Politicians has been tried, and the People have prevailed."
There, you see, comes "the people" again. The "Two Johns" talk sweetly and wonderly about the people, they do, and a very sweet time they will have of it when the people actually speak out. It will then be seen that John Tyler has but played the part of a simpleton-and the Madisonian daily shows that John Jones is his most appropriate mouth piece.
